Design-wise the Acer Aspire 5 offers a sleek design that any normal user or a student would expect at this price point including a polycarbonate body along with a brushed aluminium lid that looks really premium. Meanwhile, the laptop offers a pretty large 15.6-inch 1920x1080p display, along with an overall thickness of 19.9 millimeters and a weight of 1.6 kilograms making it really portable and easy to handle.
Operating on Windows 10 Home the Acer Aspire 5 Laptop features an 11th gen Intel core i3-1115G4 dual-core CPU which offers a base clock of 3.0GHz and a maximum turbo clock speed of 4.10 GHz. Apart from that the CPU also integrates an Intel UHD Graphics GPU, which is more than enough for day-to-day usage and light photo editing in Adobe Lightroom. Additionally, the Acer Aspire 5 also comes with a single cooling fan and a single pipe which is more than adequate given that the laptop features a power-efficient CPU without any dedicated GPU.
The Acer Aspire 5 comes with one stick of soldered 4GB 2666Mhz DDR4 memory meanwhile, this laptop can be upgraded to support up to 20GB of DDR4 memory running in dual-channel mode using the empty SODIMM slot. Meanwhile, in terms of storage, the Acer Aspire 5 features a 1TB Western Digital Blue HDD and an M.2 expansion slot.
Display-wise the Acer Aspire 5 is equipped with a Full HD 1920x1080p LCD panel, which measures 15.6? (39.64 cm) diagonally. The display provides good colors but lacks proper viewing angles or higher brightness. Additionally, the display found on the Acer Aspire 5 also comes with an anti-glare film which helps evade reflections on the already dim display.
The Acer Aspire 5 comes with a mediocre 48Wh lithium-ion battery pack which consists of three separate battery cells. The battery is rated to last up to 9.5 hours on a full charge with medium usage. However, the performance may vary if you prefer keeping the brightness all the way up. Meanwhile, the laptop uses a bog-standard 2-pin barrel connector for charging along with a 45W AC power brick.
The laptop has a reasonably wide I/O on both sides; on the right side of the notebook, you will find a bog-standard Kensington security lock, one USB Type-A 2.0 port, and an audio jack. Whereas, on the left side of the laptop, there's an HDMI 2.0 connector along with two USB Type-A 3.2 ports and a barrel pin connector for charging. Additional connectivity features include Dual-Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.
In terms of the audio, the Acer Aspire 5 comes with two downward-firing speakers with support for Acer's TrueHarmony technology. Nevertheless, the downward-firing speakers always perform the best on hard sound reflective surfaces such as a tabletop; so you might not get the best sound quality if you plan to use it on a sound-absorbing surface such as your lap or your bed.
When it comes to the keyboard, the Acer Aspire 5 is equipped with a full-size keyboard with a dedicated NumPad but lacks full-sized Arrow keys which would go a long way if you're using Microsoft Excel for an extended period of time.
The Acer Aspire 5 comes equipped with 4GB of DDR4 RAM which can be further upgraded to 20GB using the additional SODIMM slot in a 4GB soldered + 16GB SODIMM configuration. Furthermore, the Acer Aspire 5 also offers one M.2 slot which can be used to add a secondary M.2 NVMe SSD.
