YouTube is the king of all platforms, undoubtedly! Millions of videos are uploaded each day and the best part, you can find anything you want with a simple search. Want to know how to watch someone’s Instagram story secretly? Tada, there are thousands of videos giving you just the best tutorials. Well, talking about its incredible uses is one thing, but when it comes to experimenting with possibilities of technology, no one can deny YouTube’s efforts.

As of 22 March, YouTube is experimenting and testing upon one of the interesting subjects – automatic product detection in videos. The test is now being expanded to the majority of the people watching videos in the US. According to 9to5Google, previously a version of similar testing was being done midway last year, that is, in 2020. In one of the blogs by YouTube, a representative mentioned a few details about this feature:

We are experimenting with a new feature that displays a list of products detected in some videos, as well as related products. The feature will appear in between the recommended videos, to viewers scrolling below the video player. The goal is to help people explore more videos and information about those products on YouTube. This feature will be visible to people watching videos in the US.

The experiment is thought to be building an effective lucrative affiliate link market for Google. Alongside creating a list, the new feature aims to tie commerce directly to the video uploads. We can also assume this step preferably as an introduction of YouTube into a similar shopping space such as Instagram and Facebook. While this feature is still in its testing stage, none can affirm its effectiveness until the final results come out.

Artificial Intelligence is getting smarter with each passing day and we are still looking for what these tech giants have in for us.
