Xiaomi has reportedly started working on Mi 11‘s successor which is said to be called Mi 12. Just like the Mi 11 series, the Mi 12 series is also likely to include three models – Mi 12, Mi 12 Pro, and Mi 12 Ultra. Earlier this week, Mi 12 series code-names “ZEUS” and “CUPID” surfaced on the internet. Now, a Xiaomi tipster @xiaomiui has revealed key specifications of these phones.
According to the tipster, the Xiaomi Mi 12 is code-named “CUPID” and the Mi 12 Ultra carries the code-name “ZEUS”. He reveals that the vanilla Mi 12 and the Ultra model will come with a 200MP triple camera setup. In addition to that, the camera setup in Mi 12 Ultra may include a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP periscope lens with 10x zoom.
Xiaomi Mi 12’s camera setup is tipped to include an ultrawide lens and a macro lens, in addition to a 200MP main camera. Both the smartphone are said to be powered by the Qualcomm SM8450 SoC, which is reportedly called Snapdragon 898. The SoC could be paired with LPDDR5X RAM. According to @xiaomiui, the camera output resolution is 8192×6144 pixels, which is the same as offered by Sony IMX7000 and S5KGND.
In a separate tweet, the same tipster @xiaomiui revealed more details about Mi 12 variant which is code-named “PSYCHE”. The phone is said to carry model L3A. It may also come with a triple camera setup which includes a 200MP main camera, an ultrawide lens, and a macro sensor with OIS support. According to the tipster, this Mi 12 variant will be powered by an overclocked version of Snapdragon 865 SoC.
Last year, Xiaomi announced the Mi 11 in December. The company may follow the same pattern with Mi 12 and it could be unveiled by the end of this year or in January 2021. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the company will not use “Mi” branding anymore. So, the Mi 11 successor could come as Xiaomi 12.
