Exactly one year after Xiaomi launched its Mi 11, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is all set to launch its successor on December 28. According to an official announcement made by Xiaomi in a Weibo post, the company will unveil its Next-Gen Flagship Smartphones: Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro on December 28 at a launch event in China at 7:30 PM Beijing time.
According to the reports by Gadgets 360, Xiaomi’s 12 series could include as many as four different devices, namely the Xiaomi 12, the 12 Pro, the 12X, and the 12 Ultra. However, Xiaomi will not announce all of them during the December event, as we have seen with this year’s Mi 11 Ultra that wasn’t announced until late March.

Although there aren’t many official details about the upcoming handsets, Xiaomi has confirmed that at least one of the new devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. At the same time, it is speculated that the devices will also offer charging speeds of 67W or higher, along with 120Hz OLED screens.
Other rumoured specs for the Xiaomi 12 also include a triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, as pointed out by the leaked renders from @OnLeaks.
Besides the aforementioned device, Xiaomi is also expected to launch its MIUI 13 update, name-dropped by MIUI’s Weibo account. MIUI updates in the last few years have been buggy affairs on some phones, but the post explicitly mentions a focus on speed and stability.
Although the Xiaomi Mi 11 was initially only available in China, a global version of the device was launched in February this year, which hopefully means that international versions of the Xiaomi 12 series of smartphones could arrive soon after the December event.
