Xiaomi 12 series was announced in China last year. It debuted as a family of three members: Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. There was no Ultra model, and neither did we see a Lite model at the event held in December last year. In March, the company announced the Xiaomi 12 series in the global market, still, there was no indication of a Lite or an Ultra model.
Recent reports believe that both the Xiaomi 12 Lite and Xiaomi 12 Ultra are in the works. The Xiaomi 12 Lite will be a mid-range phone and will sit below the vanilla Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Ahead of any official announcement, some leaked images of the Xiaomi 12 Lite have surfaced on a Chinese microblogging site Weibo, giving us a very first look at the device.
Xiaomi 12 Lite design
Xiaomi 12 Lite’s design in leaked images looks similar to its premium siblings. It has a familiar-looking rear camera module with one large sensor on the top and two small sensors below it. The images reveal that it will have a 108MP primary camera, with no indication of OIS. Though, it is unlikely to beat the 50MP sensors on the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
To cut the cost, Xiaomi 12 Lite appears to be using a plastic back, instead of meta frames on the premium models. Xiaomi 12 Lite has a slightly boxier and flat edge design, like the Redmi Note 11. The device has noticeable bezels on the front and a punch-hole cutout at the centre.

Xiaomi 12 Lite specifications (rumoured)
According to a recent report from Xiaomiui, the Xiaomi 12 Lite could feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate support. Under the hood, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset, as spotted in a Geekbench listing. The device could be offered in three memory configurations: 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB.
Apart from a 108MP primary camera, the camera setup on Xiaomi 12 Lite may include an ultrawide lens and a macro camera. It could come with a 16MP selfie camera. The smartphone is likely to feature an IR blaster and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
