Microsoft recently announced that the rollout of Windows 11 will officially begin on October 5th. They are now asking testers to downgrade to Windows 10 if their hardware does not meet the required criteria.
Microsoft had already announced that the PCs that do not meet the required hardware specifications will be allowed to preview windows 11 updates only via flighting until general availability. PCs will then need to go back to Windows 10 and will not be eligible for future Windows 11 Preview builds.
With Windows 11 being officially announced, this was inevitable and now users are reportedly getting the message:
Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your device is not eligible to join the Windows Insider Program on Windows 11. Please install Windows 10 to participate in the Windows Insider Program in the Release Preview Channel.
According to Microsoft, the minimum required hardware specification to install and run Windows 11 can be found here. Windows 11 comes with a lot of new features and an overall design revamp. If you were planning to upgrade your PC/Laptop, this is a good time.
If you do not have any plans to upgrade your PC, you need not worry as you will receive updates for Windows 10 until October 14, 2025.
