Windows 11 has now been officially launched worldwide and any consumer is free to download the brand new generation of Windows. Microsoft announced through a blog post that they aim to bring Windows 11 to all devices by mid-2022.
Windows 11 will be offered as a free upgrade to any existing Windows 10 users and some newer laptops as well as desktops from mainstream manufacturers like Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. will come pre-loaded with Windows 11. Microsoft is also bringing Windows 11 pre-installed to its new range of Surface devices that is coming to the US starting today.
How To download Windows 11 on existing machine
Windows 11 has been officially announced and you can download it starting today. Windows 11 does have some minimum requirements that you must abide by though in order to download the operating system. Microsoft’s PC Health Checkup app has a special section that will tell you whether your PC has the specifications required to download Windows 11 or not. The app will also tell you what needs to be upgraded in order to get the new OS if you are running older components.
If your PC is eligible, you can head to the Settings app and you should see the software update. If you do not see this option, Windows 11 has not arrived for your PC yet and will be available in your region at a later date. However, you can get the latest Windows operating system by using Microsoft’s Installation Assistant which will install the new OS immediately in a few casual steps!
