LG shut down its smartphone business in April last year. Within a week of its exit from the smartphone business, the company released an announcement regarding the software update for its smartphones. The company promised to release the Android 12 update to a handful number of phones and even Android 13 for some devices. Let’s check if LG K51 is eligible to receive the Android 12 update or not?

LG K51: Device Overview

LG K51 is a decent mid-range phone that was launched in 2020. It has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a dewdrop notch to house the selfie camera. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. A microSD card is also there to add more storage.

The smartphone features a triple camera setup on the back that includes a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth shooter. It is equipped with a 13MP selfie shooter. LG K51 is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. The device features a fingerprint scanner on the rear side.

Is LG K51 Eligible to Receive Android 12 Update?

LG K51 was launched with Android 9 (Pie) out of the box. The device has already received two major OS updates. As a result of which, the device is running on Android 11 OS.

A couple of days after LG announced the shutdown of its smartphone business, the company announced details about which devices will get Android 12 and which will get the Android 13 update. Unfortunately, the LG K51 will not receive the Android 12 update.

The brand announced that it will release three major OS updates to its premium phones released in 2019 and later. It includes LG Velvet, LG Wing 5G, LG Velvet 5G/UW, LG G8 ThinQ, LG G8S ThinQ, LG G8X ThinQ, LG V60 ThinQ 5G/UW, LG V50 ThinQ, LG V50 (Dual Screen), and LG V50S ThinQ 5G.
