Qualcomm has been reportedly working on a Snapdragon 888+ successor, which is said to come as Snapdragon 898 or 895 SoC. The new chipset from Qualcomm is said to carry model number ‘SM8450’ and will be fabricated on Samsung’s 4nm process. While we wait for the official confirmation, the chipset has been benchmarked on Geekbench revealing some key details.
The Snapdragon 898/895 SoC has been tested in a Vivo phone, which carries the model number V2102A. Taking a deep look inside the Geekbench listing reveals that the new chipset will be integrated with Adreno 730 GPU. The chip has been listed with a base speed of 1.78GHz and has a maximum speed of 2.4GHz.
According to a Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 898/895 SoC has 1×2.42GHz core + 3×2.17GHz cores + 1.79GHz core. It managed to score 720 points in the single-core and 1,919 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench v5. The processor was tested on a Vivo phone with 8GB RAM and runs Android 12. It could be the company’s first phone to launch with the latest version of Android OS.

Qualcomm is yet to reveal anything about the Snapdragon 898/895 SoC. Last year, the Snapdragon 888 debuted in December month. We can expect the company to follow the same launch pattern with the Snapdragon 898/895 SoC.

Reports have started surfacing on the internet that Xiaomi will be the first to use this new chip. We recently reported that the Xiaomi Mi 12 and Mi 12 Ultra are tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 898/895 chip. Anyways, we believe more leaks are likely to follow in the days and weeks, as we step closer to the “first with a Snapdragon 898/895 chipset” smartphone.
