Vivo Patents Design for Triple Foldable Phone – Days after Vivo made headlines with its outrageous patent for a smartphone that can transform itself into a tablet by attaching itself to an external display. the Chinese smartphone brand has come up with yet another unconventional concept. We have come across a patent filing by Vivo that indicates it is working on a smartphone with an iPod-like design that can transform itself into a tablet.
Anyway, take a look at them renders below.
From the patent documents, we can witness the phone’s overall design and iPod-like mechanism in all its glory. Given that cellphones have been able to mimic the functionalities of click wheels for years without requiring a specific physical feature, this is an unusual design choice, assuming that brand intends to introduce a retail phone with this design.
On the front, there’s a punch-hole cut out for the selfie camera, as well as low bezels for an immersive viewing experience. the half portion of the display seems to be foldable twice. It seems to be a long display tablet with vertical openings rather than horizontal. However, it isn’t entirely clear how Vivo plans to do this.
It could be attractive when you’re at home or office, though where you can open or fold the display as and when needed. Note that the phone can be used as a normal smartphone and doubles up as functionality of click wheel.
