Google is rolling out a new feature for Google Meet on Android devices. Users will be able to add video backgrounds to their calls. Up until now, you could only set images as your background, or you could blur it. This feature is already available for iOS and also on the web.
Google announced this feature in a blog post on Tuesday, the 28th of September. Google said,
“Custom backgrounds can help you show more of your personality, as well to help hide your surroundings to maintain privacy. With the option of replacing your background with video, we hope this makes your video calls more fun.”

Users will be able to select from six Google made options. Some examples of the background videos available right now are a classroom, a beach, a party, etc. Google promises that more additions will be made to background videos so that users will have a wide variety of options to choose from.
Custom video backgrounds are an excellent feature on Google Meet to help users who do not have a professional setup and would not like to compromise their privacy by showing their house/workspace.
So, how do you use custom video backgrounds on Google Meet? Users can directly access the custom video background option if the meeting administrator has enabled it. Administrations need to visit the Help Center to learn more about controlling background replacement in Google Meet with the Admin setting.
