Planning to buy a new phone but haven’t found a perfect phone that suits your personality? Don’t worry, there are a couple of interesting smartphones lined up for launch next month. In April 2022, over a dozen of new smartphones, and May 2022 won’t be any different.

Several smartphone manufacturers have already announced the launch date for new phones for the month of May 2022. And, past leaks have spilled out details as to which phones are likely to launch next month. So, here’s our list of upcoming smartphones that are likely to launch in May 2022.

1. Vivo X80 series

Vivo X80 flagship series debuted in the last week of April in its home market China. The brand announced two devices under the X80 series: Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro. Vivo has confirmed that the X80 series will launch globally (including India) on May 8. Both the smartphones are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. However, the X80 Pro also comes in a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset option.

Both Vivo X80 and X80 Pro have a 6.78-inch FullHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1500nits of peak brightness. The vanilla X80 features a triple camera setup on the back that includes a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Vivo X80 Pro, on the other hand, has a 50MP primary camera with gimbal OIS, an 8MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and OIS, a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide lens.

Both the smartphones feature a 32MP selfie shooter. The vanilla model houses a 4,500mAh battery, while the Pro model has a slightly bigger 4,700mAh battery capacity. Both come with 80W fast charging support. The Pro model also supports 50W wireless charging. The Vivo X80 Pro is probably the best flagship phone from the brand.

2. Vivo T1 44W

Vivo has officially confirmed the arrival of two new T1 series phones. The Vivo T1 44W and Vivo T1 Pro will launch on May 4 in India. The Vivo T1 44W is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset. It is said to come with an AMOLED screen, a 5,000mAh battery, and Android 12 OS. Rumours are that the Vivo T1 44W could fall under the sub-Rs 15,000 category.

3. Vivo T1 Pro

Vivo T1 Pro will launch alongside the T1 44W on May 4 in India. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 778G chipset. It is said to feature a 64MP primary camera on the back and is likely to carry support for 66W fast charging. The device will feature an 8-layer cooling system for better heat dissipation. It is said to be priced at around Rs 25,000.

4. iQOO Neo6 SE

iQOO Neo6 SE will launch on May 6 in China. It is confirmed to arrive with a Samsung E4 AMOLED screen. It features a 1200Hz touch sampling rate, 1300nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 870 chipset. It is expected to house a 4,700mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.

5. ZTE Axon 40 Ultra

ZTE will launch Axon 40 Ultra on May 9 in China. The device has been officially confirmed to feature an under-display selfie camera. It is said to have a triple camera setup on the back that includes a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary sensor with OIS, a 64MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP OmniVision OV64GB telephoto camera with OIS support. The device is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. A 5,000mAh battery could be packed inside the Axon 40 Ultra with support for 65W fast charging.

6. Realme Narzo 50 5G

Realme is reportedly gearing up to launch Narzo 50 5G. According to a report from 91Mobiles, the company will launch the Narzo 50 5G in India in May. The report does not reveal any launch date. However, it claims that the device will be offered in three memory configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 128GB. It will be available in two colour options, namely Hyper Black and Hyper Blue. As of now, Realme has not revealed anything about the Narzo 50 5G.

7. Sony Xperia 1 IV

Sony has announced that it will hold a product launch event on May 11. While the company has not revealed anything about which products will be announced at the event, the teaser video hints at a new flagship phone from the Xperia lineup.

According to reports, the new Xperia would be called Xperia 1 IV. The device is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM. It is rumoured to come with a 6.5-inch display with 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for fast charging.

8. Oppo Reno8 series

Oppo Reno8 is reportedly in the works. According to reports, the new Reno series could launch in China in May. The brand is expected to unveil three devices under the Reno8 series: Oppo Reno8, Reno8 Pro, and Reno8 Pro+.

The vanilla Reno8 is expected to launch as the first phone powered by the unannounced Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. It is said to feature a 6.5-inch OLED screen, 50MP primary rear camera, and a 4,500mAh battery. The device was recently spotted on China’s 3C certification site with support for 80W fast charging.

Oppo has not yet teased the Reno8 series arrival. However, rumours believe that it could launch as early as May in China. According to tipster Mukul Sharma, the Reno8 series will launch in India by the end of June.

9. Redmi Note 11T series

According to some Chinese tipsters, Redmi Note 11T series is in the works. It is said to consist of two phones: Redmi Note 11T and Note 11T Pro. The brand has not officially confirmed its arrival. However, it is rumoured to launch in May.

The Redmi Note 11T and Note 11T pro were recently seen on the 3C certification site. It revealed that the Note 11T supports 67W fast charging and the Note 11T Pro may carry support for 120W fast charging.

Not all the devices (listed above) have been officially confirmed to launch in May. So, take the list into consideration with a pinch of salt. Apart from these devices, the brand will also unveil more devices.
