Spotify for iOS and Android is getting a minor update that includes new search filters to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Both free and Premium subscribers will be affected by the move.
Spotify says the latest search filters will be available beginning today and will make it easier to find the music or podcasts you’re searching for.
With a simple search, you can explore the entire world of music and podcasts connected to the artists, tracks, and episodes you already love. Want to expand your skills in the kitchen? Type “cooking” into the search bar to browse through curated dinner playlists, podcast episodes with your favourite chefs and cuisines and even find user-created playlists for your next meal.
Top Results, Artists, Songs, Playlists, Albums, Podcasts & Shows, Episodes, and Profiles are among the latest search filters. Apple Music has the same functionality, and the filter feature was recently reintroduced to the App Store to help with the quest.
As seen above, the latest Spotify search filters are located directly below the search bar; tap on one to refine your search results. Spotify says the update will be available to both free and Premium users “in the coming weeks” (this sounds like a server-side change).
The company is also launching auto-generated podcast transcripts, allowing users to read the text of individual podcasts on their phones with or without music. Users will also be able to easily scroll through episodes and tap on any written paragraph to begin playing from that stage.
However, the feature is only limited to Spotify Original and Spotify Exclusive podcasts.
