Samsung is seeking to get into the mainstream foldable phone market with the Galaxy Z Fold3 and, in particular, the Galaxy Z Flip3. Although foldable, Samsung is demonstrating its great promise. This is reflected in the sales data.
According to KoreaHerald, the number of pre-orders for Galaxy Folds are significantly bigger than last year. So far, 450,000 Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 smartphones have been pre-ordered. Furthermore, these are most likely merely foldable devices with a mobile operator’s branding on them. If you include the devices that aren’t branded, the total number of pre-orders should be about 600,000. And this is only relevant in South Korea. There is currently no information on pre-orders in other countries.
The new foldable smartphones are outselling Samsung’s traditional flagship series at this point. When compared to the Galaxy S21 series, there are nearly twice as many pre-orders and 1.5 times as many pre-orders for the Galaxy Note20 series.
