Samsung Unveils A New Monitor With Built-in Camera and Facial Unlock

The Samsung monitor comes with not only a built-in webcam but also speakers and a microphone

Samsung launched its new 24-inch Webcam Monitor S4 (Model Name: S40VA). Samsung says this monitor is designed “to suit the needs of hybrid workers”. The monitor has a built-in camera along with 2-watt dual stereo speakers and a microphone.

The camera is a 2MP Full HD infrared sensor and a microphone right next to it. To use the camera you will need to push it down which will spring it open. When not in use, the camera can be pushed back into the monitor.

If you were wondering about facial unlock, it is present. The S4 is ‘Windows Hello’ certified, and the biometric sensors make unlocking your computer effortless. All you need to do to access your computer is just look at the screen. Samsung claims that it can unlock your computer in as little as 2 seconds! It’s just a matter of time till we find out how reliable this is.

The S4 monitor is a 24-inch Full HD 1920x1080p resolution panel with a maximum refresh rate of 75Hz. The bezels are minimal making it look like a bezel-less display. It also has Samsung’s flicker-free, low blue light features which help protect your eyes for long terms use.

The viewing angles are good too. The stand is height adjustable and can be tilted and swivelled to your needs. It does not miss out on VESA compatibility which makes the mounting effortless.

Another great addition to the monitor is USB ports, which makes it like a USB hub. For people using it with laptops, it’ll be of great help, to add extra peripherals. Other ports available on this monitor are HDMI, DP, D-Sub and Audio out port.

One last thing to note is that the Samsung S4 Monitor is available only in certain regions, namely the U.S., Europe, South Korea and South East Asia.
