Realme 8i, Realme 8s 5G with MediaTek SoCs, Triple Rear Cameras, and Dynamic RAM Expansion Launched in India Under Rs 20,000

Realme 8i, Realme 8s 5G have MediaTek SoCs, 5000mAh battery, and triple rear cameras.

Realme 8i and Realme 8s 5G have been launched in India on Thursday as the company’s latest affordable phones. The company also unveiled Realme Pad at the event and announced that the Realme 9 series will launch next year. Realme 8s 5G has been launched as the world’s first phone with MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, while the more affordable Realme 8i is India’s first phone to pack MediaTek Helio G96 chipset. Let’s take a deep dive into Realme 8i, Realme 8s 5G price, specifications, and sale details.

Realme 8s 5G, Realme 8i: Price in India, Availability

The newly-arrived Realme 8s 5G is priced at Rs 17,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant. It also comes in 8GB + 128GB variant for Rs 19,999. The more affordable Realme 8i price in India has been set at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB + 64GB storage and Rs 15,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant. 

Realme 8i comes in Space Black and Space Purple colour options, while the Realme 8s 5G comes in Universe Blue and Universe Purple colour options. The first sale for Realme 8s 5G will be held on September 13 and the Realme 8i will go on sale from September 14.

The device has a 6.5-inch FullHD+ resolution with 600nits peak brightness, 405PPI pixel density, 90.5% screen-to-body ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch sampling rate. It flaunts a punch-hole cutout on the front to house a 16MP selfie shooter. There’s a triple-camera setup on the back which includes a 64MP primary camera, 2MP B&W portrait lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. 

Under the hood, Realme 8s 5G is powered by Dimensity 810 chipset coupled with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. It has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB. Dynamic RAM expansion has now become a trend among new phones, and Realme has implemented the feature in Realme 8s 5G. It allows 5GB virtual RAM support which improves multitasking. 

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button. On the software front, it ships with Android 11 based Realme UI 2.0 skin.

Realme 8i offers a 6.6-inch FullHD+ display with a 180Hz touch sampling rate and 120Hz refresh rate which automatically switches between 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz based on the content displayed. It has a peak brightness of 600 nits which can go as low as 1 nit. The phone is powered by Helio G96 chipset coupled with up to 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB storage, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. The 5GB virtual RAM support is also there, but only for the 6GB RAM model.

The phone features a triple camera setup on the back that includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP B&W portrait lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies and video calling, there is a 16MP camera housed inside a punch-hole cutout. Realme 8i packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Like the Realme 8s 5G, the 8i also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone boots Android 11 based Realme UI 2.0 skin. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.1, Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
