Realme 8 5G Secretly Unveiled in Thailand | India Launch Set for Tomorrow

On Wednesday, April 21, the Realme 8 5G was quietly released in Thailand. Apart from 5G connectivity, the mid-range smartphone features an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor and a full-HD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a triple-camera system on the back, with the main sensor being a 48-megapixel “Nightscape” sensor. The latest Realme phone is also set to launch in India on Thursday, April 22 at 12:30 p.m. IST, and will have the same set of specifications. Flipkart will be the place to buy it.

Price and Availability

There is only one RAM and storage configuration for the new Realme phone. The 8GB + 128GB storage model of the Realme 8 5G costs THB 9,999 (roughly Rs. 24,000) in Thailand. Various online retailers, including JD.com and Shopee, are currently taking pre-orders for the phone in two color options: Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue. It will be available for purchase on May 3rd.

It’s worth noting that the phone is listed on the Realme Thailand website with two different RAM choices – 4GB and 6GB. The website lists 64GB and 128GB as the two storage choices. On their websites, however, the retailers’ listings indicate an 8GB + 128GB version of the handset.

The 6.5-inch full-HD (1,0802,400 pixels) monitor on the dual-SIM (Nano) Realme 8 5G has a 90Hz screen refresh rate, 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, 405ppi pixel density, and 600 nits of peak brightness. An octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, an ARM Mali-G57 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage capacity for the 5G handset. Using the phone’s dedicated memory slot, the phone’s capacity can be extended up to 1TB. It’s powered by Android 11 and comes with Realme UI 2.0 on top.

The Realme 8 5G has a triple rear camera configuration, with a 48-megapixel main camera and an f/1.8 lens at the top. An f/2.4 monochrome portrait lens and an f/2.4 macro lens are both included in the kit. Apart from AI Beauty filters, the rear camera has a Super Nightscape mode for low-light photography. For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 16-megapixel front camera with Super Nightscape mode. Both the front and rear cameras can capture 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second.

A massive 5,000mAh battery powers the latest Realme smartphone, which also supports 18W Quick Charge fast charging technology. Apart from 5G support, connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, a USB Type-C port for charging, and 4G LTE. The handset is 162.5×74.8×8.5mm in size and weighs approximately 185 grams.
