Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Processor Released With 144Hz FHD+ Display Support

Qualcomm has extended its 7-series portfolio with the introduction of the Snapdragon 778G 5G Mobile Platform, which is built on 6nm process technology.

The Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset includes the Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU, which provides 40% higher performance and impressive power quality, as well as the Qualcomm Adreno 642L GPU, which provides up to 40% faster graphics rendering.

The new chipset, which is powered by the 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine and the Qualcomm Hexagon 770 processor, is believed to deliver a combined AI performance of 12 TOPS and up to 1,000x improvement in hands-off time in some use-cases. This is further improved by the Qualcomm Sensing Hub 2nd Generation, which includes an always-on, dedicated low-power AI processor.

Furthermore, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G Mobile Platform includes select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such as Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for smooth, efficient gameplay and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch, which increases responsiveness by up to 20%.

The latest chipset supports an FHD+ monitor with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and the Qualcomm Spectra 570L Triple ISP enables:

  • up to 192MP single camera
  • up to 36+22MP dual camera
  • up to 22MP triple camera

The Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset features a Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF System with peak download speeds of 3.3 Gbps. It supports all main bands, including mmWave and Sub-6 on TDD and FDD frequencies, as well as NSA and SA modes and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). The Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 Connectivity System, which is said to offer unrivalled multi-gigabit class Wi-Fi 6 speeds of up to 2.9 Gbps, is also included in the chipset.

Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS/GLONASS/NavIC/QZSS, USB 3.1, Qualcomm 3D Sonic/Sonic Max fingerprint sensors, Qualcomm Fast Charge 5 technology, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio, and Snapdragon Sound technology are among the additional features.
