OPPO Smart Ring

OPPO unveiled its new assisted reality Air Glasses just last week at the in INNO DAY 2021. However, a latest patent issued by OPPO hints that the company might be gearing up to develop its Smart Ring that will work similarly to a smartband.

Various reports disclosed by an unnamed source who apparently found OPPO’s listing on the QCC database points out that, OPPO issued a new patent for a smart ring, which has since been approved by the Chinese authorities.

Apart from that, the listing on the database also notes that the Oppo smart ring will be an accessory, not an electronic product, and it is supposed to be a fashion statement in addition to its Air Glasses.

The concept of a smart ring is not exactly new since Motiv released its Smart Ring way back in 2017. The Motiv Ring being a full fledged fitness tracker, allows the users to track various parameters including the number of steps they’ve taken, their heart rate, as well as the amount of calories burnt during a workout session.

But when it comes to the OPPO smart ring, we still don’t know anything about its supposed features or specs or even it’s design. However, we speculate the apart from the features provided by Motiv’s smart ring, the OPPO smart ring could also feature some sensors that would allow the users to control their Air Glasses using hand gestures. Something that was extensively show during its launch event.

Overall, we really hope that the concept of a mass-market smart ring is as interesting as it sound.
