A Maharashtra-based Twitter user recently tweeted this his OnePlus Nord 2 5G recently exploded. The issue was reported on November 3, and the user has attached multiple images of the exploded phone as well as severe burns that were caused to the user. This is most likely a battery overheating problem, although it could be some other component too.
This is not the first time that this device has exploded. We have seen other blast reports, too, and in one such case, OnePlus also sent the user a legal notice. Although the company has not yet provided any details about the blast, the user has mentioned that OnePlus has reached out to understand the matter.
OnePlus has asked the user to connect to them via Twitter DMs, and no further information about this issue has been revealed yet. A few days later, though, the user himself mentioned on the Twitter thread that OnePlus has been in “constant touch.”

OnePlus has also said that “We take such incidents seriously. Our team has already reached out to the user and we are in the process of collecting the details to investigate this further.”
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is the brand’s best mid-range device. It features the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC and a dual-camera setup. These repeated reports of extreme blasts on OnePlus Nord 2 devices are turning out to be a huge PR disaster for the brand.
However, the legitimacy of any of these reports is still unclear. Some people point out that this could have been due to external factors or the users’ behaviour.
All of this is happening just days before the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G Pac-Man edition that poses an additional Rs 3000 over the top-of-the-line Nord 2.
