Last month, MediaTek unveiled Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100 to snatch more market share in the mid-range smartphone segment. Both the chipset are fabricated on a 5nm process, but the Dimensity 8100 runs at higher clock speeds. Realme was the first to launch a phone with the Dimesity 8100 SoC, which is Realme GT Neo 3, later joined by Xiaomi with the Redmi K50. Other smartphone companies like Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Oppo will follow up soon.
Ahead of any official announcements, Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has spilled the launch timeline of some upcoming phones with Dimensity 8000 series chipset. According to the tipster, OnePlus will launch a phone with the Dimensity 8000 or Dimensity 8100 SoC this month. Also, there will be an Oppo K10 series with one of these new Dimensity chipsets, which is said to be announced this month. The tipster didn’t reveal more about the two devices.

MediaTek Dimensity 8000 series chipsets
MediaTek Dimensity 8000 is a 5nm octa-core processor. It consists of four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.78GHz and the rest four are Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. Dimensity 8100, on the other hand, has four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.85GHz, slightly higher speeds than in Dimensity 8000. While the other four cores remain the same.
Both the chipsets have a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. The Dimensity 8100 can handle WQHD+ resolution at 120Hz, while the less powerful Dimensity 8000 chipset supports FullHD+ resolution with up to 165Hz refresh rate. Both the Dimensity 8000 series chipsets support sub-6GHz, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and Wi-Fi 6E, up to 200MP resolution camera, and 4K 60fps video recording.
