Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus usually launches a tweaked version of its flagship smartphones every October under the “T” badging. Until the OnePlus 7, they used to tweak both the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro to give us the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. This was changed last year, wherein only one device was tweaked to give us the OnePlus 8T. This year, however, a new report from Android Central shows that the OnePlus 9R could be used as a foundation, to give us the OnePlus 9RT. The 9RT will be a modified/tweaked version of the OnePlus 9R.
OnePlus 9RT Specifications
As for the specifications, there’s nothing official yet. This rumored OnePlus 9RT is said to feature the same 120Hz AMOLED panel as the OnePlus 9R, a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support, and come with a “higher-binned version of the Snapdragon 870.” The other specifications like the cameras, display & design should stay the same. The OnePlus 9RT may come with the 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor, which is the same one in the OnePlus Nord 2.
For the software, it is expected to have OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12. We can also expect some features of ColorOS because of their recent merger. OxygenOS’ public beta should have been out by now, but it has not been released, so there are chances this phone does not get the new OS. OxygenOS 12 is also not said to support Material You, which is a major feature of Android 12. The price of this device is also unclear but we expect it to be around Rs 50,000.
This phone could be a big launch for the brand especially because of the price of the current 9R, but OnePlus could sabotage itself, by having both the 9RT and the Nord 2 in its lineup. Both phones share the exact same camera sensor, a similar design, same battery, charging, etc.
