Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, recently published a report claiming that Apple will begin shipping its first foldable iPhone in 2023. The iPad mini was also mentioned in the same article. According to Kuo, the arrival of a new iPad mini in the second half of 2021 would benefit a touch-panel supplier.
Apple launched the new iPad Pro line in April, which includes a new mini-LED display, M1 processor, and 5G support. According to some news, the iPad mini refresh will also be released in the spring.
However, it appears that an upgrade to Apple’s tiny iPad, which is updated infrequently, will arrive in the fall.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a new form factor iPad mini with a 9-inch touchscreen. It is supposed to resemble a smaller version of the iPad Air, with smaller bezels, and Touch ID moved to the side button. The upcoming iPad mini will have an 8.4-inch display, up from the current generation’s 7.9-inch size, according to Japanese publication Macotakara.
The iPad mini is currently available from Apple for $399 for a 64GB configuration. The $329 iPad, which begins at 32GB and was refreshed with a new processor last year, is the cheapest iPad in the lineup. The low-cost iPad is expected to get a refresh in 2021, possibly in conjunction with the iPad mini in the fall.
