Lava is all set to launch its new set of smartphones at an upcoming event on the 7th of January 2021. As per the company’s announcement on Twitter, the event will start at 12PM and will be live-streamed through Lava’s YouTube channel. It is likely to be a Made in India product going by the #ProudlyIndian to cash in on the anti-China sentiment that swayed in the country a few months ago and is still going strong.
The smartphones are said to be ranging between Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 and will be spread across price points. While the hardware and specifications remain unknown, the major highlight will be the ‘Made in India’ facet. With this launch, Lava will be backing the footsteps of Micromax in launching smartphones made in India to counter the likes of Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc., brands to which these Indian companies lost market share half a decade ago.
Despite attempting comebacks a few times in the last five years, the company had largely been out of the limelight in the mainstream Indian smartphone market. So it’ll be proud to watch another brand coming up with the ‘Made in India’ concept.
