Updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV are on the way. Apple announced on Tuesday that the new versions of all of its operating systems — iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3, watchOS 7.4, and tvOS 14.5 — will be available next week, buried in its announcements. There’s no news on a specific release date for all of them, but to be honest, it won’t be long. Apple has yet to provide specifics about what we might expect, but we do have some information thanks to ongoing beta programs.

iPhone owners will be able to unlock their phones using a compatible Apple Watch with iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4. This is a particularly useful feature for many people during the current coronavirus pandemic because it eliminates the need to remove your mask to unlock your iPhone.iPhone owners will be able to unlock their phones using a compatible Apple Watch with iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4. Another major idea is a do-not-track feature, which would require apps to ask users if they want to be monitored. All-new Apple software updates will include this feature.

In addition, iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3, watchOS 7.4, and tvOS 14.5 will have a redesigned Apple Podcasts app with support for podcast channels, as well as a minor update to the Reminders app.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X controllers will be supported on iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3, and tvOS 14.5 as well. At Apple’s event on Tuesday, the Cupertino company discussed how gaming would be much more immersive on the new iPad Pro with the M1 chip and support for next-generation controllers (including for haptics).

With iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, and macOS 11.3, users should anticipate about 200 new emoji and emoji search functionality. On iOS 14.5, iPad OS 14.5, and watchOS 7.4, Apple Fitness+ will also support AirPlay 2. Finally, Apple Pencil Scribble on iPad OS 14.5, now has support for five additional languages.

Thanks to a new feature called Adjust Color Balance in tvOS 14.5, Apple TV owners will be able to calibrate the color balance of their TV set. You’ll still need one of the most recent iPhone models with the iOS 14.5 upgrade installed.

Next week, iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3, watchOS 7.4, and tvOS 14.5 will be available.
