Despite any problems around the globe, the Indian PC Market has continued to be strong and has shown a record-breaking number of shipments. HP leads the list with the most sales and Notebooks seem to be the most popular type of device consumers are buying.
The traditional PC shipments witnessed a 30% year-over-year (YoY) growth in quarter 3 this year (July to September). Notebooks absolutely dominated the market and account for 80% of the total sales. This is the first time we have seen over 3 million Notebooks being sold in a single quarter showing a strong 28.4% YoY growth. A total of 4.5 million PCs were shipped during the quarter, making it India’s biggest-ever single quarter.
Bharath Shenoy, Senior, Market Analyst, PC Devices, IDC India said, “Despite the better allocations to a few segments, the demand-supply gap continues to be a challenge as enterprises and SMBs continue to order in big volume. As the top three vendors are struggling to fulfill the entire requirement, some of the orders are moving to smaller vendors, thereby helping them to improve their presence in the commercial segment.”
If we look at individual brands of PCs, HP shows a clear lead. HP had a 28.5% overall share of sales in the consumer as well as commercial market, with a 22.5% YoY growth. In individual markets, however, HP had a 30% share of sales in the commercial sector and a 25.3% share in the consumer market. HP has made 1,268 thousand sales this quarter.
Coming in at second place is Dell with 1,059 thousand sales accounting for 23.8% of the total sales. Dell also overtook Lenovo in the consumer segment to take second place with a share of 19.2% in quarter 3, 2021.
To round off our top 3 is Lenovo who has maintained its position from the previous quarter. Lenovo has reported 830 sales and hence has a market share of 18.6%. Following Lenovo in 4th and 5th place are Acer and Asus, respectively.
In terms of overall sales irrespective of brands, the Indian PC Market is reporting a total of 4,455 thousand sales which is a 30% YoY growth. All information presented is from a report by IDC.
