Today, Huawei unveiled two new displays, the MateView and MateView GT. The MateView GT is a simple gaming display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, unlike the MateView. On paper, the MateView GT appears to be a decent gaming display.

The MateView GT has a 1,500R curvature and a native resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. As a result, it has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which makes it perfect for widescreen gaming.

Furthermore, Huawei claims that the 34-inch VA panel can achieve 350 nits and a peak contrast ratio of 4,000:1. The display should also have a colour accuracy of less than two Delta E.

Furthermore, the MateView GT has a soundbar with dual 5 W speakers and a small light bar that works at up to 165 Hz. Unfortunately, Huawei has only included the older HDMI 2.0 standard, not the newer HDMI 2.1 standard, which is needed for high-refresh-rate gaming on a next-generation console. However, there is a DisplayPort 1.4 link and two USB Type-C ports, one of which is used for control by the MateView GT.

It has the unique Free-Sync Premium anti-tear technology for gamers. Although at a high refresh rate of 165Hz, the latter will prevent screen tearing and incorrect frames.

Additionally, there are game optimizations such as dark-level enhancement, front sight assistance, and other features. This is a typical auxiliary feature of e-sports displays as well.

The Huawei MateView GT will cost CNY 3,599 (approximately $560). Huawei has not confirmed whether it intends to release the MateView GT globally, but we would expect third-party retailers to stock the monitor eventually.
