Lately, Netflix launched a beta update for Android users through which they can set a time limit or a timer for their Netflix usage or screen time. Currently, the feature is available only in adult profiles i.e. it is not accessible in the kid’s profile. However, the feature can be a very useful tool to limit Netflix usage for kids by setting a time limit. Apart from that, the feature is a very useful one for people who tend to doze off while watching an episode and lose track of where they left the episode at.
Talking further about the beta feature, it comes with four timer settings being 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or the end of the ongoing episode. Right when the specified time will be up, the app will turn off. With this feature, you no longer have to worry about auto-playing episodes after you drowse off or about your phone battery running out if you go to sleep with Netflix still running. The feature is currently available only for Android users who are Netflix beta testers, but if the test turns out to be positive, the feature may soon roll out to other platforms and devices as well. This may include desktops and TV sets.
If you happen to be an android beta user and wish to access the following feature, then follow the steps given below:
- Play the episode or movie that you wish to watch on your smartphone.
- Tap on the clock icon, labeled timer, in the upper right corner of the screen
- Select the option of your choice from 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or “Finish Show.”
With this new update, you can now fall asleep watching your favorite Netflix shows and movies without any worries of your battery running out or the auto-playing of consecutive episodes. So, take advantage of this feature if you’re a beta tester and even if you’re not, it might not be long until Netflix releases this feature for all Netflix users worldwide!
