If you’re a long time Android user then you might know how easy it is to sideload/install third party .apk files onto your device. However, aside from the normal APK file format there are two other types of—APKM and XAPK file formats that can’t be installed using Android’s native package Installer.

That said, here’s a step-by-step guide that explains each file formats and how you too can install apps with these unsupported files formats onto your Android device without any hassle.

What are XAPK & APKM Files?

A XAPK file is a package used to install Android apps on mobile devices. It is similar to the standard .APK format, but also contains other assets, such as its .OBB file, which stores graphics, media files, and other app data required by the app.

Whereas, an APKM file is another type of file format that bundles multiple APK files into one package that can be installed at once.
