MediaTek has announced two new chipsets in its Helio G series for budget android gaming smartphones: Helio G88 and Helio G96.
The latest mid-range chipsets from MediaTek are meant to match up with the premium chipsets and deliver a powerful performance in the gaming, camera, and display segment.
MediaTek Helio G88
The MediaTek Helio G88 SoC supports 90Hz screens and features an octa-core CPU with two Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs running at up to 2.0GHz.
The Helio G88 supports up to 64MP primary cameras, as well as features including a hardware depth engine enabling dual-camera bokeh shots, a Camera Control Unit (CCU), and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC).
MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite generation technologies, dual-4G VoLTE, and integrated voice wake-up are also supported by the Helio G88.
MediaTek Helio G96
Along with the G88, MediaTek also announced a more powerful chip, the Helio G96. The G96 is an octa-core processor with two Arm Cortex-A76 cores that can run at 2.05GHz, as well as support for LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage.
It also supports Full HD+ screens at 120Hz (both LED and AMOLED). The processor can also handle 108MP cameras for people who love to click pictures on their phones. It can also support dual sim 4G LTE, VoLTE, and ViLTE connections.
The new chipset also has MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technology, which may reduce latency and speed up application or game launch times to give you the best gaming experience.
