Just a few month’s after Intel first announced its new 12 Gen H series of laptop processors that combine performance and low-power efficiency cores onto a single chip, Dell’s top of the line Windows laptop namely the XPS 15 and 17 have finally been updated.

Design & Specifications

Starting from the design, the new laptops are essentially same as last year’s models with major upgrades made on the inside. Just like its predecessor both the machines still comes in a portable package with the same exceptional 500 nits bezel less display that offers a slightly taller 16:10 aspect ratio with touchscreen and non touch screen panels running at different resolutions to choose from.

On the inside both the newly refreshed XPS 15 and 17 will be available in three options including Intel’s Alder Lake Core i5-12500H (12 core), a Core i7-12700H (14 cores), or a Core i9-12900HK (14 cores) processor. Additionally, these new machines can be also configured with up to 64GB of much faster DDR5 memory running at 4800MHz, 4TB of PCIe M.2 SSD.

Meanwhile, on the graphics side of things, things get a bit confusing as although you can get both the base 15-inch and 17-inch models with Intel’s Iris and GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, the XPS 15 can be configured with a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti whereas the XPS 17 can go even higher up to a GeForce RTX 3060.

Among other highlights, both the machines now come with a slightly lower power draw which leads to better battery life as well as built-in WiFi 6E connectivity, allowing you to take advantage of the new 6GHz band that comes standard on recent 6E routers.

Pricing & Availability

When it comes down to its pricing the base XPS 15 and XPS 17 both of which come with the same Core i5-12500H CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and 1200p IPS display start at $1,449 and $1,849 respectively.

As for its Availability both the new laptops will be available on sale starting from today. However you might need to wait a little longer if you want to get your hands onto the XPS 17 with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 as it won’t be shipping until April.
