How To Change iPhone App Icons in iOS 14.5 and Make Your Home Screen Look Fresh

Everyone’s customizing their iPhones with an iOS 14 update. Why aren’t you? Here is how you can play around with the interface.

Customization has never been a thing when it comes to iPhones. The default home screen remains as it is through the time you use the iPhone. Well, history just got changed with the new iOS 14 update. Last year, when the update came, it gave iPhone users a chance to play around a bit with the interface. Now that you can change the icons with images of your choice, the size and color of your icons, and wallpaper that goes with your theme. Why wait to do something exciting?

Give different names, change the size of the icons, and color. In short, customize your iPhone and give it a completely ‘aesthetic’ look. So let’s jump into learning the steps to change app icons on the iPhone.

Here’s how you can change the look of the icons and your standard iOS 14 home screen. 

Step 1: 

Open the preinstalled Shortcuts app on your iPhone. 

Step 2: 

Tap the ‘Plus’ icon on the top-right corner of your screen.

Step 3: 

Select the option Add Action. 

Step 4: 

In the search bar, type Open App. Then, open the menu by tapping it. 

Step 5: 

Tap Choose and select the app that you want to customize. For instance, you would want to customize Spotify, Facebook, or the Messenger app. 

Step 6: 

Tap the three dots (⋮) icons on the top-right corner of the screen. Here, you can give the shortcut a name that you like. Once done, tap on Add to Home Screen.

Step 7: 

On the menu where it says Home Screen Name and Icon, rename the shortcut app. 

Step 8: 

Now go to Safari and search for a new image icon. For example, you can find an ‘aesthetic’ icon for Facebook. When you find a suitable image, save it to your Photos. 

Step 9:  

Go to the Shortcuts app and tap the current icon. From the menu, select Choose Photo and tap on the saved image. Set it accordion to your likable size by zooming it in or out. Now, tap on Choose. 

Step 10: 

Tap Add.

Enjoy the aesthetic look of your phone. Don’t worry about original apps, as they will remain on the phone.
