Here’s How To Buy the Worlds First USB-Type C iPhone

USB-C iPhone

USB Type-C on the iPhone is a much-awaited feature. At least after knowing that the iPad Mini 6 has USB Type-C for charging and data transfers. Last monthKenny Pillonel, a Robotics Engineer student, uploaded a video of how he went around building a USB Type-C iPhone. Now, he has put the iPhone up for sale.

The phone is being auctioned on eBay. It is an iPhone X with 64 GB of storage in black colour, no accessories included, and once you get it delivered, you also get a 30-minute call with Mr Pillonel. As of writing this article, the current bid is a whopping USD 49,900. And hey, you get free shipping too. The terms mentioned by Mr Pillonel are,

“By bidding on this auction, you agree that:

  • You will not restore, update, or erase this iPhone
  • You will not use it as your daily phone
  • You will not open it

I guarantee that the phone will work when you receive it, but if you don’t follow the aforementioned guidelines, you are on your own. So basically, you can do whatever you want with it, but don’t expect anything from me if you break something. It is just a prototype.”

If you want to own a one of its kind product, this is the time. It surely will leave a dent in your pocket. It is doubtful that there will ever be an iPhone with USB Type-C.

The EU has mandated USB Type-C. The Apple iPhone is expected to either go portless or adopt a USB Type-C port, and the portless option seems likely as Apple is the one that usually comes with these features (Or gets rid of them).

All the Funds collected will go to buying specialized equipment for such further projects.
