Spotify launched Blend Playlist Beta back in June with the “Only You” experience. The public build is now official and available to all users and is available to both premium and nonpremium users.
The Blend playlists are a new way for users to merge their musical taste into one shared playlist. The goal of this is to make it easier for users to connect, discover, and bond over the music they love with one another.
You will have new cover art to identify your Blend playlists. You can also compare the music you listen to with that your friends listen to. You will get a score which will be called, “Taste match score”. You can share these playlists across social platforms as what Spotify calls, “shareable data stories” that are unique to each listening pair.
Blend will be updated daily and revolves around what music you stream and will combine the best of Spotify’s personalization capabilities and collaborative playlist functionality into a single shared playlist. This will make getting into a social listening session customized just for you much easier.
How to create a Blend playlist?
You can create a blend playlist in 4 easy steps,
- Tap “Create Blend” in the Made for You hub on mobile.
- Next, tap “Invite” to select a friend to join your Blend via messaging.
- Once your friend accepts, Spotify will generate custom cover art and a track list for the two of you filled with songs that combine your listening preferences and tastes.
- Share your Blend results across your social channels by tapping “Share this story” at the bottom of your data story screen.
The new Blend feature seems like a great addition to Spotify. Try it out and let us know the comments section whether you like it or not.
