Asus ZenFone 8 Series Launched with Snapdragon 888 SoC: Details

Asus ZenFone 8 Series Launched in European and Taiwan markets.

Today Asus has officially revealed its flagship ZenFone 8 Series- the ZenFone 8 and the ZenFone 8 Flip. Asus has produced two phones that stand out due to their unique design, with the ZenFone 8 known for its compact size (it’s actually the smallest Android flagship), while the ZenFone 8 Flip keeps the flip-up camera magic of its predecessor the ZenFone 7. Both smartphones will come with snapdragon 888 SoC for power-packed performance and Android 11 out of the box.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 is priced at EUR 599 (approx Rs 53,900) for its base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and comes in 2 color options Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 flip is priced at EUR 799 (approx Rs 71,900) for its base variant with 68GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage and comes in 2 color options Glacier Silver and Galactic Black. You can pre-order both smartphones from today in Europe and Taiwan. The India launch has been delayed due to the rising pandemic in the country.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 features a 5.9-inch Full HD+ Samsung-made E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 1100 nits. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with Adreno 660 GPU and 6/8/16 GB of RAM with 128/256GB of internal storage. As for the software it will run on Android 11 out of the box with ZenUI 8 skin on top. The smartphone is also IP68 certified which makes it resistant to water and dust and, as for security it has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

As for the cameras, it comes with a dual-camera setup with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 being the primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an aperture f/2.2 and dual PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus). On the front, it has a 12-megapixel camera for selfies and video chats. As for the connectivity features the smartphone comes with dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The smartphone packs a decent 4000mAh battery with support of fast charging up to 30W, and weighs 169 grams, and measures 148 x 68.5 x 8.9mm in dimensions.

The ZenFone 8 Flip features a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate a peak brightness of up to 1000 nits. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 6/8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage. As for the software it will run on Android 11 out of the box with ZenUI 8 skin on top. But unlike the ZenFone 8, it lacks an IP certification.

As for the cameras, it comes with a three-camera setup with a flip-camera mechanism similar to that of the Zenfone 7 Pro consisting of a 64-megapixel primary camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with optical zoom up to 3x. An in-display fingerprint sensor for security. As for the connectivity features the smartphone comes with dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.2, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The smartphone packs a huge 5,000mAh battery with support of fast charging up to 30W and weighs 230 grams, and measures 165.08 x 77.28 x 9.6mm in dimensions.
