Apple announced the iPhone 12 series last year. Since then, some users have been facing sound issues on the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro devices. And the company acknowledged this issue and announced free repairs to eligible devices, and this service has now expanded to the UAE.

According to the Khaleej Times, users can avail of this service from two stores in Dubai – Dubai Mall and The Mall of the Emirates – and one in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi.

Statement by the company is, “If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls, it may be eligible for service.” All you need to do is take your device to Apple Authorized Service Provider, and they fix it for you for free.

Please also note that there are restrictions/ limitations to repair to the original country or region of purchase. And if your iPhone “has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.”

Also, the devices affected by this issue are manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. So, if by any chance you are facing this issue, now is the time to visit the store/ service provider and get it repaired. Better late than sorry.

The free repair program covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for two years after the first retail sale of the unit. iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max are not part of this program.

Apple also recently announced, “Self Service Repair” for iPhones and Macs, an excellent initiative for other companies to follow. Users can purchase over 200 tools and parts, and when users return the used parts, they get store credit. Sounds too good to be true? It isn’t.
