Apple notified App Store users that they can now make payments via UPI, Rupay, and net banking. Previously, the Apple App Store could only accept payments in the country via debit and credit cards. Users can now use their Unified Payments Interface ID, RuPay cards, and net banking to purchase apps and games from the App Store. You can also use the new payment methods to manage your subscriptions to iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade services.

The notification says, “New ways to pay for content you love. You can now use UPI, RuPay cards, and netbanking to pay on the App Store.”

How to Configure the New Payment Method on Apple Devices

Simply follow the steps below to add the new domestic payments method to your Apple ID on your Apple products.

step 1: To begin, navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

step 2: Then, select Payments & Shipping from the drop-down menu.

step 3: In this section, you may be required to sign in to your Apple ID again. Then click Add Payment Method and choose your preferred payment method.

step 4: The list will display various payment methods such as UPI, RuPay, and Net Banking, and you can then fill in the details by tapping on any of these options.

RuPay, which was introduced in India in 2012, allows for real-time electronic payments at all Indian banks and financial institutions. In 2016, the massively popular instant payments network UPI followed.

For the first six months of 2021, global consumer spending reached $64.9 billion between the two storefronts. According to the report, this is up 24.8 percent from the same period in 2020, when it generated $54 billion.

According to a June report, the App Store is experiencing significant growth, with consumer spending expected to increase by 22.1 percent year on year in the first half of 2021.

Sensor Tower reports that the first half of 2021 was an extremely profitable period for digital storefronts such as the App Store and the Google Play Store.
